Japanese Convenience-Store Chain's Group Net Profit Dives 45 Percent in 2002.

Apr. 15--TOKYO--Major convenience store operator Lawson Inc. said Tuesday its group net profit dived 45.0 percent to 8.86 billion yen in the year to Feb. 28 due chiefly to one-time losses associated with the disposal of fixed properties and special retirement allowances.

Lawson's group pretax profit dropped 12.9 percent to 30.66 billion yen on sales of 250.33 billion yen, down 2.3 percent.
