Golf courses are some of the best and most
manicured real-estate in the world. Even
though I don't play the game, I find myself drawn to various courses and
sometimes I think I'd even pay the green-fees just to be able to walk the links
with a camera. Recently, I read an
article that described some of the most unique and picturesque golf courses in
the country and I thought I'd pass them along this week. Today, we visit the East Coast!
Old Stonewall;
You might consider getting into
"real" shape (not just "golf" shape) before playing this
course. The Limestone boulders that
serve as the foundation and d?cor of this course (some of them, over 7 tons in
size) will literally take you right up the side of a mountain. The back-nine holes on this course escalate
higher and higher into the mountain with beautiful terraced tee boxes and
limestone retaining walls. If not the
views, then certainly the climb will leave you breathless!
This course is a triumph of modern
engineering. Not too long ago, it was a
massive landfill (yes, it was a "dump")! Today, it's a beautiful course on the border
of
Brickyard Crossing;
Four of this course's 18 holes are squeezed
inside the 2.5 mile oval of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I doubt they allow golf carts on the track of
the famous brickyard, and it's probably more than a "slight"
distraction to have to tee it up while cars scream past you at 200mph, but
that's part of the fun, right?
Certainly, I've left out some pretty cool golf
courses that are near and dear to your hearts this week. Don't get upset; just leave a comment about
your favorite course and any unique attributes of the course that might draw a
few readers there in their spare traveling time. And if you're thinking of entertaining a
client or two on a special or unique course, certainly these should kick your
imagination into gear!
