Japan Fast-Food Restaurant Chain to Continue Serving Dish with Australian Beef.

Feb. 19--TOKYO -- Fast-food restaurant chain operator Kobe Lamptei Inc. said Thursday it will continue serving its mainline "gyudon" beef-on-rice dish beyond April by using Australian beef instead of U.S. beef.

The decision is contrary to moves made at its four bigger industry peers, which stopped serving gyudon earlier this month after their stock of U.S. beef ran out.

The move at Kobe Lamptei, which runs some 40 outlets, pleased Australian beef producers.
