Clarus Medical awarded $446,000 two-year grant from the National Institute of Health.

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 1996--Clarus Medical Systems, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota has been awarded a $446,000 two-year grant from the National Institute of Health (NIH). This grant is the second one received by Clarus under the NIH's SBIR Program for development of an unprecedented,

miniaturized fiber optic endoscopic instrument for use in minimally invasive surgical procedures. Positive results of this research should impact more than 300,000 patients annually who are currently being treated with more invasive methods. Technology used for less invasive procedures in orthopedics and general surgery has proven to greatly reduce hospital stays while improving patient outcomes. Miles A. Finn, Ph.D., Director of Clinical Studies at Clarus, leads the project.
